Raticosa Pass

passodellaraticosa

The Raticosa Pass, located in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines at an altitude of 968 meters, is a pass of extraordinary beauty that connects the provinces of Florence with Bologna. This suggestive destination, which is part of the Futa state road 65, has a fascinating history, having represented a strategic point during the Second World War, when it was included in the Gothic Line, the German defensive line.
A particularly fascinating aspect of this pass is its attraction for motorcyclists. In fact, the Raticosa Pass is a real meeting point for motorcycle enthusiasts, coming from all over Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. During the spring and summer weekends, the square at the top of the pass transforms into a lively "open-air lounge", where motorcycles of all types stop to enjoy a panoramic break, creating a unique convivial atmosphere, particularly loved by local bikers.
The Raticosa Pass is not only a scenic destination, but also a highly prestigious stop for car enthusiasts. Here is the finish line of the Bologna-Raticosa hill climb, a historic competition valid for the Italian Historic Car Mountain Championship, which celebrated its twenty-fifth edition in 2012. In addition, the pass was included in the route of numerous editions of the legendary Mille Miglia, from 1927 to 1957, adding even more charm to this iconic road.
Join the tradition, visit the Raticosa Pass and discover a corner of the Apennines rich in history, nature and passion for two and four wheels!
